My Swing In Heaven - Volcano de Fuego Eruption

I decided to do a brief narration & create an art piece based on Caty a 6 year old girl who is now relocated a shelter with her brother and mother (Reynolds,2018). In the narration, I describe some of the frustrations and emotions of Caty. I wanted to honor Caty by creating her favorite swing with her cat among white clouds. I also chose black, red and orange in the background to represent the smoke and lava of the volcano. Caty understanding that her cat and swing could be her light among the darkness. Her cat and swing are resting in heaven.

All I see is black clouds filling up the sky. Covered in ash and mud I am running towards the shelter. As I am running my breath becomes shorter as I inhale the smoke. Pleading towards my mother “I do not want to die among the black clouds.” I want to go back to my house in El Porvenir where I can sit on my favorite swing. In El Porvenir I was happier because I got to play with my cousins and cat. I been crying for days wishing that my cat and cousins will come back. As I toss and turn on the mattress, nightmares about dying among the black clouds fill my brain. I witness my mother who cries every night and calmly tells me my cousins are in heaven. I hope my swing and my cat are in heaven too.
