Psychological Impact
-
Terrorism is intentional, calculated, and planned. It is intended to create a profound fear and it affects a wider audience than just the immediate physical target, which in this case was the people at these various locations. Furthermore, terrorism is used to affect political behavior of governments, communities or social groups.
-
The aim of a terrorist attack is not just to injure and kill people but to destroy people’s sense of freedom and safety by terrorizing the entire population. These characteristics are able to magnify mental health effects compared to the other type of disasters. Considering the wide intention of terrorist incidents, terrorism can be expected to have immense psychological consequences that can influence a nation, and even the world.
